Find out exactly what a prompt costs across GPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok — per call, per thousand, and per month. Side-by-side, with current list prices.
| Model | $/1M in | $/1M out | Per call | Per month |
|---|
Prices are public list prices as of May 2026 and may change. For high-volume workloads, contact each provider for negotiated rates.
Every major model provider charges by the token, split into two columns: input tokens (everything you send) and output tokens (everything the model writes back). Output is almost always more expensive — typically 3–5× the input price — because generating tokens is more compute-intensive than reading them.
Prices are quoted per million tokens. A single English word is roughly 1.3 tokens, so a million tokens is somewhere around 750,000 words — about ten full-length novels. The numbers look tiny per call and add up quickly at scale.
The cheapest model isn't always the right answer. Smaller models cost less per call but often need more retries, more context, or a follow-up clean-up pass. Run the same prompt through several models in MultipleChat to see the quality-to-cost tradeoff for your specific use case.
