Choose where your AI runs

Cloud models. Local models.
You decide.

The app lives on your computer. Where the model runs is up to you.

01 / Bring your own API key

The models you want.
Connected directly.

Add an API key from OpenRouter, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Mistral or another supported provider. Choose a default model and change it for each workspace.

  • Your provider bills your API usage directly.
  • Chats and keys are stored on your computer.
  • Prompts and relevant file passages go to your chosen provider.
02 / Run a local model

The model runs
on your machine.

Connect Ollama or LM Studio to use a model on your own hardware. Local chat and document indexing can work without a cloud provider.

  • No cloud API key required for local models.
  • No per-token provider fees for local inference.
  • 16 GB RAM or more recommended; needs vary by model.

Local AI and cloud AI are different: cloud requests leave your computer. Local workflows can run offline after setup; a licensed copy checks in online at least every 14 days.

Windows installation

Set up AI on your Windows PC.

The Windows .exe installs a desktop app with local storage and your choice of AI provider.

Version 1.0 · Windows 10/11 · 64-bit
Windows and Mac releases may differ in features.

Have your API key or local model ready before clicking Start trial. Your 24 hours begin at that point. A consumer AI subscription does not automatically include API credit.

  1. Check your Windows version

Open Settings → System → About. The current installer is for 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11. The Windows release is version 1.0; it is separate from the Mac release.

  2. Run the Windows installer

Download the .exe from this page, run the installer and follow its prompts. Launch MultipleChat AI from the Start menu when installation is complete.

  3. Add a provider or local model

Have an API key or a local model ready before starting the trial. Open Settings → AI Providers → LLM, choose your provider and model, and save. Then create a workspace and send a message.

Before you download

AI for Windows: your questions.

Does MultipleChat work on Windows 10 and Windows 11?

Yes. The current Windows version 1.0 supports 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11. Download the .exe installer and follow the setup prompts.

Do I need a powerful GPU to use cloud models?

Cloud providers run their models on their own infrastructure, so you do not need to run those models on your PC. Local models use your own hardware; 16 GB RAM or more is recommended, and requirements depend on the model.

Is the Windows app the same release as the Mac app?

Windows is currently version 1.0, while Mac is version 2.0.0. Features can differ between releases. Use the 24-hour trial to check your intended workflow on your own PC.

What does bring your own API key mean?

Create an API key with a supported provider and add it in Settings → AI Providers → LLM. The app connects directly to that provider using your key. API usage is billed to your provider account separately from the app license.

Where are my chats and API keys stored?

Your chat history, documents, local document index and API keys are stored on your computer. When you choose a cloud model, your prompt and any relevant document passages are sent to that provider under its terms. No MultipleChat server sits between your app and the model provider.

Can I use a local AI model instead of an API key?

Yes. Connect a local model through Ollama or LM Studio. Local chat and document indexing can run on your computer without cloud API usage charges. Model performance depends on your hardware. A licensed copy needs an online check-in at least every 14 days; web search and cloud models also need an internet connection.

How much does the desktop app cost?

Try the app for 24 hours. The trial starts when you click Start trial, so prepare your API key or local model first. A license costs $250 as a one-time purchase. Cloud API usage is charged separately by your provider. Local models use your own hardware without per-token provider fees.

Does the desktop license include the web subscription?

No. MultipleChat AI Desktop is a separate, single-user product using your own API keys or local models. The web subscription and web-only features, including the Studios and AI Collaboration, are separate.

How do I activate my license?

Your license key is emailed to the address you use at checkout. Enter it under Settings → License. If the email does not arrive, check your spam folder or contact [email protected].
